Vacuum insulation arrays as damage-resilient thermal superinsulation materials for energy saving

چکیده
Summary The building sector, where heating and cooling are the major energy consumers, contributes significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions. Large savings can be achieved if buildings thermally insulated from environment. Existing high-thermal insulation materials, such as aerogels vacuum panels, vulnerable mechanical forces damage, making their installation a significant challenge compromising long-term performance. Here, we report array (VIA) design that combines robustness ultrahigh thermal-insulation performance, with local cells hermetically sealed separated each other. This allows material punctured, cut, or reassembled, thermal conductivity of less than 0.007 W/m-K even after puncture damage. Our potentially realize 20%–40% reduction in annual use for existing building-space only 2 cm added thickness.

NUMERICAL TECHNIQUES FOR DIFFERENT THERMAL INSULATION MATERIALS
The objective of this work is to predict the temperature of the different types of walls which are Ferro cement wall, reinforced cement concrete (RCC) wall and two types of cavity walls (combined RCC with Ferrocement and combined two Ferro cement walls) with the help of mathematical modeling. The property of low thermal transmission of small air gap between the constituents of combine materials...
متن کاملEnergy Saving Analysis In Building Walls Through Thermal Insulation System
In this study, we discuss about the energy saving in different type of building walls by using optimum insulation thickness with suitable insulation material. The energy saving is maintained by reducing the energy consumption in buildings. Heat losses from building envelope have a major share in waste of energy. So it is essential to save the energy by using optimum insulation thickness. The in...
متن کاملNatural Materials for Thermal Insulation: Mulch and Lava-Rock Characterizations
This paper reports on the thermal characterization, via the thermal conductivity, of natural materials, such as mulch and lava rock and their usefulness as building insulation. Experiments were carried out using a scale one monitored wall (i.e. heat flux and temperature sensors) exposed to a heating source on one side and to an air conditioned space on the other. The wall system was composed of...
متن کاملTimber Chips as the Insulation Material for Energy Saving in Prefabricated Offices
This research demonstrates the feasibility of a roof insulation method for prefabricated offices that uses vinyl packed timber chips to reduce air conditioning loads (hereinafter referred to as AC loads) and which also improves indoor thermal comfort. The advantages of the new roof insulation method were revealed through comparing the impacts of four roof types on prefabricated offices. The AC ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Long-Term Thermal Insulation Performance of Vacuum Insulation Panels with Various Enveloping Methods
To practically apply vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) to buildings or home appliances, VIPs have demanded long-term lifespan with outstanding insulation performance. Service lives of VIPs enveloped with Al-foil and three-layer Al-metallized envelope are calculated. For Al-foil envelope, the service life is longer but edge conduction is too large compared with the Al-metallized envelope. To incre...
